Kochi: Children were used as a shield during the recent protests following the supreme court verdict allowing entry of women to Sabarimala, the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KeSCPCR) has found.
Following this, KeSCPCR chairman P Suresh directed the DGP to take action. The commission has sought action against the leaders. It also sought action against the parents, if they had assigned their children to the protests where they were used as shields.
Causing difficulties to children by engaging them in protests was against section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act and can attract three years of imprisonment.
