Alappuzha: Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) suffered a loss of Rs 11,83,57,493.8 due to the 2018 Kerala floods.
A BEVCO outlet (Shop No-7036) at Perumbavoor alone incurred a loss of Rs 30,93,946.
So far, the department has received only four crore rupees from the insurance company as compensation.
The details came out in an RTI reply given by the Corporation.
Around 30 shops were affected as a result of the flood in the state. In addition to the liquor, the outlets also suffered damages to the furniture and other properties.
The failure to properly insure the properties reportedly led to poor compensation. The employees also alleged that there were lapses in ascertaining the loss.
Meanwhile, even during the flood-hit FY 2018-19, the corporation fetched an extra sale of Rs 637.45 crore. Of this, the corporation contributed Rs 6 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
