RTI query proves MLA S Rajendran’s claims of patta land wrong
Devikulam: Response to an RTI query has revealed that the land on which Devikulam MLA S Rajendran’s house is situated is not a patta land, as claimed by him. The MLA had said that patta land was allocated to him during 2000-2003 by the Land Assignment Committee.
However, the RTI documents prove that the Committee had not met even once during this period.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, during his visit to Munnar three days’ back, had alleged that Rajendran’s house is built on encroached land which actually belonged to the KSEB. Chennithala had also noted that in 1992, Devikulam Munsiff court had issued an order against Rejendran in a land encroachment case.
In reply to these allegations, Rajendran had said that he had reived patta for this land in 2000-2003 period and this was allocated by the Committee headed by the then MLA A K Mani.
The RTI document received from Taluk office, however, made it clear that the Committee had not convened any meetings during this period.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, during a meeting held the other day, had also supported Rajendran’s claims.
Meanwhile, details about land encroachments in Munnar by group led by a Youth Congress leader have also come out. It is learned that Youth Congress leader D Kumar’s relative named Guna is leading large-scale land encroachments in Munnar. Meanwhile, DCC President Kallar Ibrahim Kutty said if the party finds such people are working with it, they will be expelled.
