Palakkad: RSS leader S Srennivasan who was killed by a gang of assailants was laid to rest at Karukody crematorium here on Sunday. Over thousands of people paid homage to him at Karnakiyamman hall and his residence.
Noted leaders of BJP and RSS also paid last respects to Sreenivasan before the funeral.
His body was handed over to the relatives around 12 pm on Sunday after the post-mortem at Palakkad district hospital. The mortal remains were taken as a mourning procession for the public homage.
S K Srinivasan (45), a former district leader and office-bearer of RSS, was attacked by a six-member gang at his motorbike shop in Melamuri near here, police said.The incident occurred less than 24 hours after a SDPI leader was killed in a village near here, allegedly by the BJP.
The two back-to-back murders of an RSS and a PFI leader in the last couple of days in the district were part of a pre-planned conspiracy, police said on Sunday.
