Palakkad: Police investigation team probing the murder case of RSS activist Sreenivasan found that an accused, Pattambi native Abdul Rasheed (32), who is on the run, has been receiving money into his bank account monthly from the bank account of SDPI Delhi office. The bank account details confirmed that the accused was receiving money from the week when Sreenivasan was killed. Following the request submitted by the police, the bank accounts have been frozen.
Popular Front Pattambi area secretary Abdul Rasheed is the 11th accused in the case. Police informed that Abdul Rasheed received Rs 13,200 from the bank account of SDPI central committee in the last week of every month. The amount was sent to Rasheed’s bank account in Pattambi.
Sreenivasan was hacked to death on April 16, 2022. The red car which cleared the way for the assailants on the day of attack was drove by Abdul Rasheed. He had received Rs 13,200 in his account on April 19 and later three others sent money to his account. Police said that it was Rasheed who planned the murder in a discussion conducted from a location near the district hospital, fixed the assailants and arranged vehicle and funds to carry out the crime.
