Thiruvananthapuram: Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) Kerala unit president M. V. Shreyams Kumar filed the nomination paper as the LDF candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat on Thursday morning.
The nomination paper was filed before Kerala Legislative Assembly Secretary S. V. Unnikrishnan Nair, who is also the Returning Officer, adhering to COVID-19 protocol.
Ministers Ramachandran Kadannappally, K. Krishnankutty, LDF convener A. Vijayaraghavan and C. Divakaran MLA were present. Only five persons were allowed inside the hall.
While speaking to media after filing the nomination, Shreyams Kumar said he hoped to uphold the left and socialist ideologies. Shreyams Kumar added that he would intervene in matters relating to Kerala in a secular manner and also on environment issues during every opportunity in the parliament.
The seat had fallen vacant following the death of M. P. Veerendrakumar. The LDF had already announced its decision to give the seat that fell vacant in May to the LJD.
