Rs 8 lakh worth meat for export looted from lorry in Koratty
Koratty (Thrissur): A complaint on theft of a lorry containing meat for export was lodged here at the Koratty station. The lorry was later abandoned after taking away the meat including goat intestine. The lorry was looted at Pongam by 10 at night while it was going from Kochi to Hyderabad to export meat after processing.
A gang arrived in a car, blocked the lorry near Punjabi dhaba and forcefully shifted its two drivers into the car. One of the passengers in the car boarded the lorry and drove off.
The rest of the lorry workers were thrown out of the lorry at Potta in Chalakudy after roaming around the city for more than an hour, seizing their mobile phones.
Later, the lorry was abandoned near St. Antony’s Church in Koratty after robbing the meat. The drivers lodged a complaint at Koratty police station. As per the complaint, Rs 8 lakh worth meat, mainly goat intestine, was kept in 120 sacks which was looted.
