Thiruvananthapuram: The state government will give Rs 3 lakh as compensation to Rajani, the woman who underwent chemotherapy after being wrongly diagnosed with cancer.
A cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided to provide Rs 3 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to the Mavelikkara native. The Chief Minister’s office informed that the financial assistance was compensation to the medical expenses and physical and mental strain Rajani underwent following the incident.
Few days earlier, Rajani and her family members had staged a protest in front of the Mavelikkara taluk office seeking compensation and action against those who wrongly diagnosed that she was suffering from cancer.
Rajani resorted to protest after the government failed to keep it promises in this regard. Later, the district Collector intervened and the protest was called off.
