Thiruvananthapuram: The victims of land acquisition due to the widening and straightening of the national highway in Kerala have received Rs 21,583 cr as compensation so far, public works minister PA Mohammed Riyas said on Monday.

NH development witnessed the biggest land acquisition in recent times in Kerala. In total, 1,078.22 hectares of land were tookover. As many as 51,780 people received compensation, he said.

Riyas was inaugurating land acquisition for developing the Kattakada town. Rs 100 crore has been set aside for the development of the town in the state budget.

Riyas also inaugurated the renovated Amachal-Chaykulam road.
