Royal representative to visit Sannidhanam on Friday
Sabrimala: Pandalam royal family member Uthram Thirunal Pradeep Kumar Varma will head to the Lord Ayyappa temple here on Friday. His visit to the hill shrine will mark the official culmination of the Makaravilakku festival.
The team carrying ‘Thiruvabharanam’ will start climbing the hills from Pamba around 2 pm on Friday. The royal family member will arrive at the temple around 4 in the evening and the chief priest will give a customary welcome to him at the temple.
The royal family member will stay at the bungalow in Malikappuram till January 21. The temple will close down after the Makaravilakku festival on January 21.
‘Ezhunellippu’ (procession) from Manimandapam in Malikappuram to ‘Padinettampadi’ and ‘Nayattuvili’ will be held on Saturday. The customary procession to Saramkuthi will be conducted on Sunday. At the same time, devotees will be able to offer ‘Neyyabhishekam’ till 11 am on Sunday. It will be followed with ‘Kalabhabhishekam’.
The temple will be closed for the devotees following the ‘Padipooja’ and ‘Harivarsanam’ on Monday. The royal family member will pay obeisance to the deity in the wee hours on January 21. When the team carrying Thiruvabharanam leaves the shrine, the royal family member will close down the doors of the sanctum sanctorum and hand over the keys to the chief priest. The pilgrimage season will conclude when the chief priest and the royal representative descend the hill shrine.
