Thiruvananthapuram: Irrigation Minister Roshy Augustine’s office has directed the HR section under his ministry to terminate Santhosh, the accused in Kuravankonam break-in attempt case and Thiruvananthapuram museum assault case. Santhosh had been working as the driver of Augustine’s private secretary and the direction comes in an apparent move to avoid the possible flak to the minister over the matter.
Though Santhosh’s conduct at the office has been good, involving a person booked in a case of this kind will dent the reputation of the minister and his office, revealed the sources as hinting at the rationale behind the termination.
Interestingly, the move also goes in tandem with the recent observation of CPM that leads the Left Front government in the state. CPM held that not just ministers but also the conduct of their personal staff have stakes in the ministers’ offices. The lapses of the personal staff also play a part and the plan is to curb such things. CPM which put forward guidelines for ministers is apparently planning to bring the conduct of their personal staff under party scanner.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the complainant woman in museum sexual assault case has recognised Santhosh as the accused. He had a full head shave to escape from police following the case.
