Thiruvananthapuram: Dr M Rosalind George, Dean of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) and wife of sacked VC Riji John, has been appointed as the VC in-charge of the university.
The move came after the Kerala High Court cancelled Riji John’s appointment as KUFOS VC. The appointment order was issued by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Wednesday.
The High Court’s verdict was based on the reasoning that the VC appointment was in violation of UGC regulations. The court pointed out that non-inclusion of a UGC representative in the search committee is also in violation of rules.
The current appointment has been made on priority basis after considering a list of three senior professors submitted by the university.
