Robbers loot money, gold from private lender company in Pathanapuram

Pathanapuram: A private lending company reported theft of money and gold worth Rs 42 lakh on Sunday night. The burglars broke the front door to get into the Pathanapuram Bankers at Janata Junction. The institution is owned by Pidavoor native Ramachandran Nair.

Lockers were broken to take the money and gold. The owner claims Rs 4 lakh and gold worth Rs 38 lakh were stolen.

A photo of Lord Deva, lamp, trident and lemon was found inside the building. It is believed that these were brought by the looters. The items suggests that they conducted pooja inside the building.

The institution was open till Saturday noon. The robbery was noticed when the owner arrived on Monday morning. Punalur DySP B Vinod visited the location. Fingerprint experts and dog squad conducted a search. The burglars had littered the premises with hair waste to mislead the investigators.

Meanwhile, the customers of the bank thronged the building hearing the news. Police said they will check the register to ensure the loss. A detailed probe will be carried out, they said.
