Riyaz Aboobackar and team planned suicide attack in Kerala: NIA
Kochi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) stated in the court that Riyaz Aboobackar who was arrested by the NIA team had plotted to conduct a suicide attack in Kerala. Riyaz was nabbed by the NIA during the investigation about the terrorist outfits after the Sri Lanka blasts. NIA also informed the court that Riyaz was the key member of the team assigned to conduct suicide attack.
According to the report submitted in the court by NIA, Riyaz had decided to be a suicide attacker on behalf of IS and he had planned to conduct suicide blasts at various places in Kerala as directed by Abdul Rashid who is the major accused in IS recruitment case. NIA also demanded in the court to take Riyaz into custody for five days for further investigation.
Earlier, NIA had found out that Riyaz and his aides had been working hard to propagate IS ideology in Kerala. Following this, NIA interrogated him and received information regarding the plans about suicide attack. NIA submitted in the court the report in which Karunagapally native Muhammed Faisal, Kasaragod native Aboobacker Siddhique and Ahamed Arafat are named as the accused.
