Thiruvananthapuram: Finally, with the Rs 80 crores sanctioned by the state government, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will provide salary to its employees on Thursday. Earlier, KSRTC had approached the state government seeking financial aid to distribute salary.
The employees of KSRTC were up in arms against the apathy of officials in providing salary on time. KSRTC cited financial crisis as the reason for the delay. Rs 80 crore was needed to provide salary to all employees. The amount allocated in the budget for providing salary was consumed completely and it affected salary distribution. Due to Covid-19 only 2,500 KSRTC buses are operational which hit revenue generation. A number of measures were devised to overcome this crisis but were of no use.
