Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that the revelations made by Akash Thillankeri and Swapna Suresh were proof of the decay inside the CPM. The CPM, which uses criminals like Thillankeri to kill political opponents and uses people like Swapna to make money illegally, has regressed into a terrorist organisation, he alleged.
Satheesan also claimed that the CPM’s links with goon mafias and criminals are flourishing under the shade of the regime. The reason for CPM’s opposition to the CBI investigation into the Shuhaib murder case is clear now, he said.
The Congress leader added that the government spent around Rs 1.5 crore of taxpayers’ money to field top lawyers in the Supreme Court to oppose a CBI investigation. It is certain that if a proper investigation is conducted into the matter, CPM leaders will be trapped, Satheesan said.
The opposition leader further said that the Kerala police have not taken any action after Thillankeri’s revelation that the party made him do everything.
Demanding a CBI investigation into the matter, Satheesan said the government should not oppose it if they are responsible towards society.
Satheesan also alleged that the chief minister is also involved in the LIFE Mission scam case. The ED report states that the CM asked M Sivasankar to give Swapna a job. The government has been trying to derail the investigation into the matter from the beginning, Satheesan said.
The vigilance probe was announced to prevent a CBI investigation in the case, he claimed. The vigilance investigation also stopped when it reached a stage that could be detrimental to those at the top. The Congress leader added that the chief minister should answer questions raised by the opposition and the people.
