Revamp in crime branch: Fate of actress attack case still unclear

Kochi: The decision to transfer Crime Branch ADGP S Sreejith, who is heading the investigation into the conspiracy case involving actor Dileep, comes at a time when CB is gaining significant ground in the case. It is feared that the move from the government would severely impact the investigation of the actress attack case and conspiracy case.

Earlier, the trial court openly criticized CB after court documents on conspiracy case leaked to the media. Dileep's lawyer also filed a complaint against the probe team and CB ADGP S Sreejith.

Following this, a meeting was convened, chaired by ADGP, to decide plans for further probe in the case. A detailed plan, and a list of people who need to be questioned were prepared. There were indications that CB could soon question actress Kavya Madhavan and two others. Amidst these developments, is the transfer order of ADGP.

It is unclear whether the probe team will push for questioning the actor's lawyers for allegedly trying to influence witnesses in the case. Meantime, Dileep's lawyer alleged that the probe team is trying to tarnish the image of the actor, his family and the judiciary. It was also claimed that the ADGP is a family friend of director Balachandra Kumar.
