Kayamkulam (Alappuzha): A retired police officer, who was part of the Solar scam case probe team, was found dead after being hit by a train in Alappuzha. The deceased has been identified as retired DySP K Harikrishnan.

The body was spotted at the railway level cross in Ramapuram, Kayamkulam around 12.30 am on Saturday. A note has also been recovered from the deceased’s car, which was parked near the track. However, police have not yet commented on that.

Earlier, several allegations were levelled against Harikrishnan, who had served as the DySP in Perumbavoor, in connection with the solar case investigation.

Harikrishnan landed in controversy after he bypassed the investigating officer and arrested Saritha S Nair, accused in the Solar scam case, in a hasty move in July 2013. Allegations were also rife against Harikrishnan in connection with the controversies involving Saritha’s laptops. He had also received flak from the judicial commission that probed the Solar case.

A vigilance case over illegal possession of the property is also pending against him. Furthermore, vigilance carried out raids at his apartment and houses in Haripad and Kayamkulam.
