Kochi: The leadership of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has intervened to prevent rebel movements within the party. It is learnt that the leaders are dissatisfied over the party reshuffle in Ernakulam, Kannur, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kollam districts.
As per reports, the state party leadership has intervened to prevent events, which are organised by activists in the name of several foundations to honour leaders, who have been sidelined by the party. Nevertheless, in Ernakulam, IUML activists are planning to honour party secretariat member Ahmed Kabir to mark their protest against the leadership.
Further, a meeting scheduled to be held on Sunday at the Ernakulam League House to discuss the issue was postponed. A notification in this regard was issued by the state leadership in the party mouthpiece.
Even though the meeting was cancelled, those who supported Kabir had arrived at the League House the other day. It is learnt that the supporters are planning to turn the felicitation ceremony into a show of strength.
The ceremony is likely to be conducted as a state event with the involvement of other political parties.
