Kottayam: Kerala government will receive details of vacancies eligible for reservation of differently-abled in the aided schools by December 10. The government has directed the education and employment officers and the school managers to conduct appointments to these vacancies without further delay.
The government will calculate the vacancies formed under each management from February 7, 1996. Out of this, 3 per cent of the vacancies formed till April 18, 2017 and 4 per cent of the vacancies, which were created later, have to be filled with differently-abled candidates. However, appointments in accordance with the reservation had been conducted in many of the old vacancies. Hence, the upcoming appointments to the rest of the posts eligible for reservation have to be made as per the vacancies reported from November 18, 2018.
The already appointed teachers who have received approval from the government will not be affected by the reservation laws. Those who have not received govt approval may lose their jobs. Although, they will get priority for the vacancies formed later.
The vacancies are estimated by dividing teachers into eight groups such as primary, secondary, higher secondary senior, higher secondary junior, vocational higher secondary senior and vocational higher secondary junior while considering non-teaching staff as a section. The first vacancy in each section will be reserved for differently-abled candidates.
School managers have to file applications to the employment officers before December 10, requesting the list of differently-abled candidates to fill the vacancies. Managers have to report the employment officers if no candidates are found eligible for the post. Later, the employment officers have to publish advertisements in newspapers regarding the vacant post. Managers can act at their own discretion if no response has been received even after publishing advertisements.
