Kollam: A worker who was trapped inside a 65-foot deep well breathed his last here on Thursday after the rescue operation failed. The deceased is identified as Muttakkavu native Sudheer. The rescue personnel recovered his body from the well around 2 pm on Thursday.
Sudheer got trapped inside while inserting rings inside it on Wednesday. Though the rescue operation was underway for more than 25 hours, the worker died.
The accident took place on Wednesday afternoon. Sudheer was engaged in inserting rings inside the well along with other workers. He got trapped after a huge mound of mud fell over him while trying to leave the well as examining chances of danger.
The rescue operation got halted on Wednesday night due to heavy rains. Earlier, a huge JCB was taken to the site for making another pit for tracing the man. As the efforts failed, a small JCB took to the site and continued the rescue operation.
