Kozhikode: To ease tension between party functionaries and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), leaders met MPs K Muraleedharan and MK Raghavan, who had recently opposed the state Congress chief and others for not hearing the opinion of others in party ranks. The meeting also addressed senior leaders' assertions on a list prepared as part of party reorganisation.
KK Abraham, KPCC general secretary in charge of the district, DCC president K Praveen Kumar, and KPCC general secretary PM Niyas visited both leaders on Saturday.
Earlier, KPCC issued a showcause notice to K Muraleedharan and MK Raghavan for publically taking a jibe at state leadership.
To resolve the differences with senior leaders, KPCC has decided to hold talks and speed up the much-delayed party reorganisation. Further, the high command has directed the state leadership to adopt a screening committee of senior leaders to address complaints and resume the party reorganisation.
Echoing similar views, K Muraleedharan also favoured setting up of a state-level reorganisation committee to address the issues. Recently, KPCC leadership has been facing setbacks in Kozhikode over reorganisation.
Therefore, a decision has been taken to hold talks with all senior leaders before handing over the final list of office bearers to KPCC.
