Removing S Sreejith from Crime Branch could likely subvert actress attack case, alleges Uma Thomas

Kochi: Uma Thomas, the wife of late Congress leader PT Thomas express concern over the probe into the actress attack case following the reshuffle in police top brass. She pointed out that transfer of ADGP S Sreejith from crime branch is observed as a ploy to save the accused in the actress attack case. Her remark came during a hunger strike organised by Friends of PT and Nature's hunger strike in Ernakulam.

She said that PT Thomas took necessary action in the case without fail. "I saw his mental agony when the actress attack came into light," she said.

"He was tormented and deeply moved by the pain of the assaulted actress. He took all necessary actions to serve justice to her. The latest move to change the investigation officer in the case can only be viewed as move to subvert the case," she added.

A few days back, the home department transferred Crime Branch ADGP S Sreejith and posted him as transport commissioner. ADGP Sreejith was transferred when the Crime Branch was collecting evidence in the actress attack case and conspiracy case against actor Dileep. ADGP prisons Shaik Darvesh Saheb was appointed as Crime Branch ADGP replacing S Sreejith.
