Remember you are a public servant, HC tells Jacob Thomas
Kochi: The High Court of Kerala has severally criticised former vigilance director Jacob Thomas while hearing his petition seeking protection for him and his family under the provision of Whistleblowers Protection Act.
“You must remember that you are not a public master but just a public servant,” the court told Jacob Thomas.
“There are senior officials above Jacob Thomas. A public servant is only allowed to complete his duties. He should not force anyone to follow his decisions,” added the court.
Meanwhile, the government informed the high court that protection would not be given to Jacob Thomas under Whistleblowers Protection Act.
In his complaint, Jacob Thomas alleged that he has been targeted, tortured and ridiculed for exposing corruption. He noted that he is facing threat to life.
