Religious leaders offers support to control crowd at worship centres: CM


Any type of gathering will cause spreading of the virus. Huge crowds are formed during religious ceremonies and prayers. When the government suggested that rituals should be conducted with limited participation, the religious leaders agreed to it.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that the religious and community leaders have promised all cooperation with all the preventive measures taken by the government to resist Coronavirus.

Any type of gathering will cause spreading of the virus. Huge crowds are formed during religious ceremonies and prayers. When the government suggested that rituals should be conducted with limited participation, the religious leaders agreed to it.

The religious organisations in Pathanamthitta have decided that not more than ten people should be allowed to enter any worship centre. Kodungallur temple authorities assured that they would do the needful to reduce crowd at Kodungallur Bharani festival.

Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council (KCBC) issued a circular to control crowd in churches. Kozhikode Pattalam mosque committee has informed that Jumuah prayers in the mosque will be temporarily stopped. All these are ideal steps taken to contain the disease and everyone can do similar things to control the spread of COVID-19, the chief minister added.
