Religious leaders call for joint-prayer day on May 3 amid COVID-19 outbreak

Kochi: Various religious leaders in the state appealed to observe a joint-prayer day to pray for COVID-19 patients, deceased, healthcare workers and administrators amid the pandemic outbreak. They have called to observe the prayer day on May 3.

The religious leaders pointed out that Kerala’s efforts to prevent COVID-19 turned a model for all.

Unity of public irrespective of religious or caste discrimination is necessary in the battle against the virus. Observing this, the religious leaders decided to observe a joint-prayer day.

Kozhikode Advaithashramam founder Swami Chidananda Puri, Swami Sadbhavananda from Thrissur Sreeramakrishna Math, Sivagiri math general secretary Swami Sandrananda, Thrissur Thekkemadom head Vasudevananda Brahmanandabhoothi, Panakkad Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar, Dr Hussain Madavoor, Thiruvananthapuram Palayam Imam VP Suhaib Moulavi, Syro-Malabar church major archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, Syro-Malankara church head Cardinal Basilios Clemis, Orthodox church head Baselios Marthoma II Catholica Bava, Bishop Dr Joseph Kariyil, Jacobite church trustee Joseph Mar Gregorios, Mar Thoma church Metropolitan Joseph Mar Thoma, CSI moderator bishop Dharmaraj Rasalam and Thrissur East Syrian church metropolitan Dr Mar Aprem are likely to join the joint-prayer day observation on May 3.
