Religion and caste won Kerala bypolls, says BJP leader B. Gopalakrishnan
Kozhikode: BJP spokesperson B. Gopalakrishnan said that the bypoll victories of both LDF and UDF were due to the influence of caste politics.
He claimed that the BJP did not lose votes in any constituency except Vattiyoorkavu and alleged that the UDF victory in Manjeswaram was Pinarayi Vijayan’s charity.
Stating that Kerala was in a caste trap, Gopalakrishnan claimed that nobody in Kerala gained political victory but it was religion and caste that won.
“Votes in Konni and Manjeswaram point that devotees are not supporting the anti BJP stance in the Sabarimala issue. UDF victory in Manjeswaram is Pinarayi Vijayan’s charity. Instead of polarising Muslim votes, the CPM divided Hindu votes,” said the BJP leader.
Gopalakrishnan alleged that Indian Union Muslim League gained victory through vote trading. He questioned why CPM did not field its rumoured candidate Kunjambu in Manjeswaram.
Gopalakrishnan said that Congress, which faced a major crisis in the national level, has started facing setbacks in Kerala also. He added that BJP’s target was to demolish the Congress.
