Idukki man relieved after 4 cm-long blood-sucking leech removed from nose

Leech removed from nose

Kattapana: 37-year-old Dibin from Idukki, who is a planter, has been in a strange and worrying situation for over three weeks. He abruptly developed an uncontrollable sneezing and his nose started to bleed.

At first, he thought it may be due to allergy. He approached a private hospital for treatment but the medical practitioner did not find any issues. However, Dibin applied nasal drops as prescribed by the doctor.

But his condition did not improve. Sneezing and bleeding continued. He turned to a Ayurvedic hospital and started to use nasal drops. Even that was not fruitful.

Dibin was worried whether he was having any serious issues as he was not able to step out of the house due to his condition.

He approached ENT expert Sreejamol. The doctor spotted a small living organism inside Dibin’s nose. Sreejamol identified it as a blood-sucking leech. The doctor removed the 4 cm-long worm from his nose.

This has brought relief to Dibin.
