Relief camps working with help of common people- Oommen Chandy
Nilambur: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy said that the relief camps in hilly regions is working with the help of people. He alleged that government facilities are inefficient. He was visiting relief camps in Nilambur.
Special package must be implemented to get the hilly regions back to normal life. Houses must be constructed immediately for people who have lost it. No action has been taken to distribute free ration on time. He said that statements and meetings cannot replace assistance.
Oommen Chandy said that he is not blaming the government and these flaws have to be solved. He appreciated the endeavours of people’s representatives and social workers.
He was accompanied by DCC president VV Prakash, KPCC secretary VA Kareem, KPCC members Aryadan Shoukath, VS Joy, block panchayat president PP Sugathan, district panchayat members OT James and Shirley Varghese.
He visited the relief camps in Erumamunda Nirmala School, Perumbathur Pallippadi, Chelasserikunnu in Nilambur, Chakkalakuthu, Karuvarakundu Nalanda College and Tharish GLP School.
