Pathanamthitta: Two people were arrested for allegedly molesting a young woman in a car. The woman's relative from Vazhamuttom and her husband's friend from Vallikode were taken into custody in the incident that occurred on April 26 at around 9 pm.

According to the survivor, aged 31, she was molested by the accused while they were travelling together in a car en route to a hospital. The purpose of their visit was to check on a friend's wife, who had been admitted to the hospital. The survivor and her husband had planned to visit the hospital in Pathanamthitta to provide some clothes and show their support.

During the journey, the victim's husband rode on someone else's two-wheeler as there was limited space in the car. The woman, along with her relative and her husband's friend, boarded the car. Besides the woman and the two accused individuals, another person was also present in the car. However, to the victim's shock, the accused deviated from the intended route and sexually assaulted and harassed her within the confines of the car.

After the incident, the accused arrived at the hospital in Pathanamthitta much later than expected. When the husband inquired about the delay, the accused fabricated a story, claiming that the vehicle had run out of fuel. The woman chose not to disclose harassment to her husband at that time.

It was only two days later, on 28, that the victim revealed the traumatic incident to her husband. Subsequently, her husband immediately informed the police of the ordeal. Following the couple's statements, the police swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the accused individuals.
