Refusal to partake in strike: Autorickshaw drivers in Kozhikode file complaint of assault

Kozhikode: A section of autorickshaw drivers in Kozhikode alleged they were assaulted for not taking part in the district-wide strike observed by CITU Auto Workers Union on Monday. It is alleged that workers, who conducted service on Monday afternoon, were assaulted and their vehicles vandalised for not joining strike.

CITU union held a 24-hour strike in Kozhikode on Monday, demanding action against autorickshaws that conduct service in city limits without a CC permit and to stop issuing permits for LNG vehicles to CNG vehicles.

However, few autorickshaws conducted services, irking some union members. These vehicles were stopped, and the auto drivers were assaulted, some allege. A case was filed based on a complaint lodged before Nadakavu police.
