Refrain from giving statements in social media: Antony to Cong leaders
Thiruvnanathapuram: Senior CWC member A K Antony today asked state party leaders to refrain from giving out statements through social media and in TV debates that could harm the Congress in the state.
"Congress leaders should refrain from giving statements in social media and in television debates that will harm the party," he said.
He was apparently referring to the recent bickering in Congress over handing over the Rajya Sabha seat to KC-M, a partner in the party led UDF, after which some Congress leaders openly came out against the state leadership.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of veteran congress leader and former Chief Minister, the late K Karunakaran, at the party headquarters here.
He opined that BJP would not have made inroads in Kerala had Karunakaran, who was acceptable to all sections of society, been alive now.
Antony alleged that the saffron party's aim was to weaken Congress by ensuring it got less number of Lok Sabha seats from the state while increasing that of the CPI(M).
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given instructions to the effect to BJP workers in the state', he alleged.
Karunakaran's son, K Muraleedharan, MLA, KPCC President M M Hassan and former KPCC President V M Sudheeran were among those who attended the function.
