Thiruvananthapuram: A red alert has been issued in Idukki, Alappuzha and Ernakulam on Tuesday, August 13 while red alert was declared for Kozhikode and Malappuram on August 14, Wednesday.
India Meteorological Department has issued warning to public to remain alert in view of the possibility of more than 20cm rainfall in these districts.
The low pressure formed above West Bengal – Odisha coast has attained strength and moved towards the shore. This is expected to become stronger in the next 48 hours resulting in heavy rainfall in these districts.
Also isolated heavy rains are forecast in Kannur, Malappuram and Idukki on August 15 and August 16.
After August 17, rains are expected to abate.
With rains subsiding in northern parts of Kerala for a short span, search and relief operations were in full fledge on Tuesday.
