Kozhikode: Following the heavy downpour, a red alert has been sounded in four districts of Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Idukki.
An emergency meeting held under the leadership of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan decided to call 10 units of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for rescue operations.
NDRF teams have been sent to Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. Meteorological centre predicted heavy rain in the state for two more days.
A total of 29 relief camps have been opened in different places. 1385 persons were shifted to the camps. Landslides have been reported from hilly areas.
Nilambur and adjoining areas are isolated in landslides. Waterlogging is reported from more than 100 houses in Mavoor in Kozhikode.
