Thiruvananthapuram: The employees of the registration department went on mass leave allegedly to mark their protest against the recurring Vigilance raids. Most of the staff of the registration offices took leave resulting in impediments in regular work.
However, the officials dismissed the allegations and informed that the absence was due to year ending. The Vigilance conducted inspections in the registration offices across the state on Thursday for the second time as part of ‘Operation Punch Kiran’. It has been alleged that the Vigilance intentionally targets officials to trap in fake cases.
The Vigilance directed the document writers not to be present at the registration offices as the registration of deeds and other land titles were made online recently. Vigilance suspects that many of these scribes and their assistants are arriving in offices by bribing the officials.
