Thiruvananthapuram: Another shocking crime similar to the recent Ambalamukku murder was witnessed in the same city. A man who reached Hotel City Tower near Thampanoor overbridge hacked to death a receptionist in a brutal attack. The deceased was identified as Ayyappan from Nagercoil.

CCTV visuals show that the assailant reached the hotel on a bike with a machete and grabbed the victim's throat in order to hack him. After slashing repeatedly, the man confirmed the death and escaped on the same bike. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. Ayyappan and a room boy were only there when the attack happened.

The room boy spotted Ayyappan lying in a pool of blood after he returned dumping wastes in the backyard. The hotel owner’s wife informed that she had a conversation with Ayyappan the other day before leaving the hotel and there was nothing unusual in his behaviour. He had never spoken about any troubles to her or her husband. Ayyappan was a distant relative of the hotel owner.
