Real fight is between Revenue Min and CM: Chennithala
Pathanamthitta: Reacting to the reported friction between Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan and Revenue Additional Chief Secretary P H Kurian over redrawing the boundaries of Neelakurinji Sanctuary in Munnar, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said the actual tussle is between the Revenue Minister and the Chief Minister.
Addressing a press meet here today as part of the ‘Padayorukkam’ campaign, Chennithala alleged that Kurian is given the charge of the Revenue Department in order to ‘control’ the works of the Minister. Kurian reads the mind of the CM and acts according to it, Chennithala said.
The CM is effectively using his influence on the Revenue Secretary in order to shrink the area of the sanctuary and help encroachers, he added. “I feel sorry for the Revenue Minister who is unable to control the Secretary of his own department,” he said and alleged that the Ministerial visit to the sanctuary is actually meant to help the land grabbers.
The government is protecting people like Thomas Chandy, Joyce George and P V Anvar, who have encroached upon government land at various places, he alleged.
