Kochi: Kerala High Court ordered to demolish of the four illegal check dams in the resort co-owned by PV Anvar MLA. Koodaranji panchayat has been entrusted with the authority to raze the check dams if the owners abstained from carrying out the court order within a month. The expenses for demolition need to be borne by resort owners.

The resort owners had approached the High Court against the district collector’s order to raze the check dams. Several locals and environmentalists have complained that the check dams in the resort disrupt the natural water flow in the area.

Earlier, the court had directed legal proceedings against the district collector for contempt of court citing the latter’s inaction in demolishing the check dams. Following this, the collector resorted to issuing a stringent order and the owners filed a petition at the High Court to review it.
