Thiruvananthapuram: Police intensified restrictions over DJ parties ahead of the New Year celebrations. As the Intelligence warned of massive drug deals and consumption during the parties, police have directed not to organise DJ parties after 10 pm. The state police chief has issued strict instructions in this regard.

The special branch of police will monitor the hotels where parties take place. Police have directed that CCTV cameras in the party halls should function properly and footage from these cameras should be saved.

Notices will also be issued to hoteliers hosting DJ parties. This action is in the backdrop of widespread drug use during DJ parties in the state. Police are trying to prevent drug use in any of these parties.

Recently, a large amount of drugs was seized during a DJ party at a resort in Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram. After the accident death of the models in Kochi, police have found that drugs were used at the parties. The recent increase in incidents of violence after drug use also prompted the police to control DJ parties.
