Kollam: Minister GR Anil announced that the Department of Food and Civil Supplies will launch Kerala Stores, also called as K-Stores with the cooperation of 1000 ration stores within 2 months. During the inauguration of the state conference of Kerala State Retail Ration Dealers Association in Kollam, the minister said that the ration stores in the state will be transformed to K-Stores for the sake of both customers and ration dealers.
The Minister said that the K-Store will be a relief for the ration dealers, whose income got affected when the Centre cut short ration allocation of wheat and rice. The products manufactured by the public sector undertakings, cooking gas and banking services will be made available via K-Stores. This will improve the income of ration dealers, said the minister.
GR Anil also declared the introduction of a new insurance scheme for the ration dealers, salespersons and licencees.
The state government has approached the Centre to resolve the technical glitches associated with the E-PoS machines. The state has promised full fledged cooperation to solve the issues of E-PoS machines, said minister.
In Puducherry, the Centre remitted money to the bank accounts of ration card holders instead of ration. Such moves will adversely affect the ration dealers, added GR Anil.
The minister reported that the Kerala government has recently shifted at least 3 lakh of ration cards to priority household ration cards. The ration cards held by the ineligible households will be cancelled soon, the minister said.
