Onam kit distribution extended till Sept 3

Thiruvananthapuram: The last date for the distribution of Onam special kits through ration shops has been extended till September 3.

Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G R Anil said that the date was extended following the complaint that many families who are undergoing Covid treatment could not receive the Onam kits.

The bedridden patients and Covid patients can seek help of others to get the Onam kit. If the ration card holders face any difficulty in receiving the Onam kit, they should contact the district and taluk level supply officers.

Earlier, the Director of Civil Supplies had informed that the distribution of free food kit for Onam will be available at ration shops till August 31 only.

The Onam special kit contains 16 items including sugar, coconut oil, tea powder, chilly powder and turmeric powder, vermicelli (semiya), ‘paalada’, brown rice, cashewnuts, cardamom, ghee and a cloth bag.
