Ration outlets to provide more services, 1000 K-Stores to be launched in first phase

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of Food and Civil Supplies G R Anil informed that ration outlets in the state will be turned into Kerala Stores (K-Store) for providing more services to the public along with foodgrain distribution. He also warned of strict action against the undeserving consumers who possess priority household ration cards.

1000 ration shops will be developed as K-Stores in the first phase. With the help of smart cards, services including mini banking, utility payment, chhotu gas issuing, distribution of Milma products and items with subsidies covering Sabari brand products will be made available through the ration outlets.

A special storage infrastructure will be constructed in each store with 350- 1500 square feet space. Transactions using ATM cards worth Rs 5000 can be executed via K-Store. The products available at Supplyco will be also dispensed through these stores.

Land has been procured to build storage facilities in 15 taluks of the state. The construction works have already begun in Payyannur.
