Rape of tribal girl: Kalpetta court awards 10 yrs RI, Rs 1 lakh fine to accused

Kalpetta: The Kalpetta Special Fastrack Court on Friday slapped 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and a Rs 1 lakh fine on the accused in the rape case of a tribal girl. The person cpnvicted is Shijin Kumar (28).

The incident pertaining to the case took place in 2018. As per the case registered at Thondernad Police, the act happened while girl was working in a field.

Following this, medical examination and forensic tests were carried out and it was confirmed that the girl was raped.

The sentence was pronounced by Justice SK Anilkumar. Special public prosecutor G Babitha appeared for the prosecution.
