Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday dismissed the pleas filed by the complainant and the Kerala government, challenging Congress MLA Eldhose Kunnappillil’s anticipatory bail in rape case.
Justice Kauser Edappagath upheld the bail and noted that the accused has been cooperating with the probe and there is no such situation to cancel the bail.
The court earlier had questioned the charges slapped against him and even the latest development too had turned favourable for Kunnappillil.
The woman had recently filed a rape and an attempt to murder case against Perumbavoor MLA Eldhose Kunnapillil. Later, she approached the HC seeking to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to him by Thiruvananthapuram Additional Sessions Court.
The state government too approached HC to cancel bail and contended that custodial interrogation is needed in this case. The new development comes at this juncture.
