Rape case against Health Inspector in TVM: Victim makes U-turn, says it was consensual

The woman has filed an affidavit in the High Court stating that she was not raped and that what took place between them was consensual.

Kochi: The rape case charged against a Health Inspector, in which a woman who came to the accused's house for a certificate after completing COVID-19 quarantine period was allegedly raped, has reached a crucial turning point.

The woman has filed an affidavit in the High Court stating that she was not raped and that what took place between them was consensual.

Police had arrested the Health Inspector in connection with the case. The woman filed the affidavit when the accused approached the High Court for bail. Following this, the court granted him bail.

The High Court asked under what circumstance did the woman state that she was raped earlier. The High Court bench led by Justice PV Kunjikrishnan instructed the state police DGP to investigate the matter.

The incident that led to the case happened on September 3. The woman, who worked as a home nurse in Malappuram, was under quarantine in her house in Pangode. The incident happened when she approached the health worker at his house, asking for a COVID negative certificate after completing her quarantine period. Following this, she went to her friend’s house and filed a complaint with the Vellarada police.
