Ramesh Chennithala to be appointed AICC general secretary, to be given charge of Gujarat or Punjab


New Delhi: Ramesh Chennithala is moving to national politics. There are reports that he may be appointed as the AICC general secretary and may be given charge of Punjab or Gujarat.

Ramesh Chennithala is in New Delhi and will be meeting Rahul Gandhi by noon. An official announcement on this would be made after the discussions conclude.

Chennithala was member of the Congress working committee in 2004. In 2001 he became the AICC Secretary with independent charge of seven states and in 2002 with independent charge of five states.

Elections are due next year in Gujarat and Punjab and hence Chennithala may be given charge of any one of these states.
