Rain wrecks Bekal Fort; visitors restricted
Udma: Extremely heavy rains that battered the state continuously for a few days, didn't spare even the hostorical monuments. The rain fury has also ruined Bekal fort in Kasaragod. Wall of the second observatory tower at the west side of the fort was destroyed on Sunday night.
The wall was built centuries before using laterite bricks. Following the wreckage, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has restricted visitors from climbing over the tower in fear of further accidents.
However, no sign boards are displayed here to warn the visitors.
