Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has informed that torrential rains will batter various parts of Kerala until Saturday.
Yellow alert has been sounded on Thursday in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad and on Friday in Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in view of possibility of isolated heavy rains. Also a general alert has been sounded in Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts on Saturday.
Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has also asked people to exercise caution.
Strong winds with speeds up to 45 kmph to 55 kmph are expected near southwest Arabian Sea till Saturday. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea till then.
