Rain likely to affect polling; Situation being monitored, says Teeka Ram Meena
Kochi: State Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena said they are observing the situation in Ernakulam as heavy rain continues unabated. He informed that the bypoll in Ernakulam assembly constituency need not be postponed at present. He added that a report has been sought from the district collector.
District collector S. Suhas responded that it has been decided not to postpone the polling. He added that all possible measures have been taken in the troublesome booths and areas and that the details are sought from the observers.
Heavy rainfall continues in all four assembly constituencies other than Manjeshwaram on Monday. Intense downpour is experienced in Ernakulam district and Kochi city from Sunday night. Waterlogging is seen in many roads in the city and traffic was disrupted. Rail traffic also was affected as railway tracks were inundated.
