Heavy rain likely in Kerala for next 3 days; orange alert in 2 districts on Monday

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in Kerala for the next three days. Orange and yellow alerts have been sounded in various districts for October 4, 5 and 6.

The IMD has also warned the people living in low-lying areas, river banks, landslide-prone areas and hilly regions to stay alert.

Meanwhile, fishing is not banned in Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts. However, gusty wind with a speed of 40-50 kmph is predicted. The wind speed may increase to 45-55 kmph by Tuesday, it has been predicted.

Monday – Idukki, Pathanamthitta

Tuesday – Idukki, Malappuram

Wednesday - Kozhikode

Yellow alert

Sunday - Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

Monday – Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

Tuesday - Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

Wednesday - Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

Thursday – Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod
